Our Roof Repair & Replacement Process
At Revival Roofing, we adhere to a very specific roof repair and roof replacement process designed to provide our customers with the best possible service at the fairest price. Here’s an outline of our process:
Removing the Gutters
First, we start by removing the gutters on the home. This is essential to replace the metal drip edge flashing behind the gutters. Since the gutters are typically secured into the drip edge, they must be removed to facilitate this replacement.
Attic Space Inspection
Before we start the roofing project, we inspect your attic space to ensure no gas or A/C lines are touching the roof decking. Although it is code to have these lines four inches from the roof decking, situations where the lines touch the decking can be hazardous. If they are too close, they can be punctured with a nail during installation, creating a dangerous situation. We lay tarps down around the perimeter of the property and cover the pool if present.
Roof Stripping
Next, we strip the roof down to the decking. We do not overlay new felt on old felt, as that is a quick and cheap method of roofing. Removing the old felt is crucial to inspect for rotted or unsecured decking. We always install new drip edge to ensure the perimeter of the roof is secure and watertight. After the tear-off, we clean the deck, removing any exposed nails to ensure a smooth roofing surface.
Synthetic Roofing Felt Installation
During the next stage of our roof repair in Allen, Texas, we install synthetic roofing felt that boasts a 20-year warranty, compared to traditional felt with a 3-year warranty. Ice and Water shields are then installed in all valleys to reinforce areas that handle the most water.
Starter Shingles
Starter shingles are installed around the perimeter of the roof next. These provide a strong adhesion as they have a tar strip at the bottom of the shingle for extra strength, followed by the field shingles.
We are certified installers with Certainteed Shingles but also install Owens Corning, GAF, and Tamko Shingles. During our process, all pipe jack flashings for your plumbing stacks and any defective roof-to-wall flashings are replaced. We calculate the exact type and amount of roof exhaust vents needed for your roofing system, then we install new vents accordingly.
We use Turbine Vents, Ridge Vents, Turtle Vents, and Attic Vents, depending on which system works best for your roof. Then we paint the HVAC pipes, pipe jacks, and rain caps. All roofing debris is cleaned up and hauled away. Magnets are run all over the property to pick up any loose roofing nails.
The owner of the company personally participates in the cleanup to ensure a thorough job is done because, let’s face it, no one likes nails in their tires.
